Nissan End of Lease Return Options in Frankfort and Lexington, KY

As your Nissan vehicle lease approaches the end of your term, there are three options to consider. Your three options include:

  1. Turn In Your Leased Vehicle And Purchase Or Lease A Brand-New Nissan Vehicle

Nissan has excellent Owner Loyalty Offers that make buying a brand-new Nissan an attractive option. Visit us at Neil Huffman Nissan of Frankfort to check out Nissan's great new vehicle lineups. Even if you’re planning to turn in your leased vehicle to purchase a new Nissan, you still need to schedule a vehicle inspection just as if you were returning your leased vehicle (see information under #3 below.)

If you’re interested in leasing a new Nissan, Nissan rewards current lease customers with great incentives to lease a new Nissan.*  In addition, NMAC will also waive up to $500 of excess wear-and-use liability on your current lease. Stop in to talk with a Neil Huffman Nissan of Frankfort representative to get details on current lease incentives for current NMAC lease holders.

  1. Purchase Your Nissan Leased Vehicle

If you love your current Nissan, you can purchase the vehicle at lease end for the previously agreed purchase option price (stated in your lease), regardless of condition. If you purchase your vehicle, you will not have to pay any excess mileage, wear or use charges. You will still be responsible for sales tax, registration, other fees and incidental charges that may be found in your lease contract. Certain state and local laws may require you to pay inspection fees or other charges. Our helpful staff at Neil Huffman Nissan of Frankfort will gladly help you figure out what those fees will be.

  1. Turn In Your Leased Nissan Outright

If you decide to return your leased Nissan, Neil Huffman Nissan of Frankfort’s goal is to make the process as easy as possible. However, there are certain steps you need to do so you can return your Nissan to us.

First, you will need to complete the required inspection. Before your vehicle's return date, contact the Alliance Inspection Management Center (AIM) at 800.253.9026 or visit the Alliance Inspection Management website to schedule a free vehicle inspection.

The inspection will only take about half an hour and can be done here at our dealership, at your home or even at your work. Please note that Neil Huffman Nissan of Frankfort cannot do the inspection and it must be pre-arranged with AIM.  An inspector with AIM will review the condition and mileage of your vehicle and determine the wear and tear on the vehicle. AIM inspectors will have a computer with them, and the results will be printed immediately after the inspection. After the inspection, the inspector will take the time to review the report with you and address any questions you may have. The inspector will give you a copy of the report and put a second copy of the report in the vehicle. (Please leave that copy of the inspection report in the vehicle until you return the car.)

If there is any excess wear or damage, you have the option to repair any excessive wear or damage that is identified in the report yourself or pay the repair fees at lease end. If you do the repairs, you need to schedule a re-inspection after the repair work is complete. Also, if your vehicle's condition changes prior to its return due to repairs or additional damage, another inspection will be necessary. To schedule your re-inspection, please call the Nissan Lease Customer Network at the information shown in your lease letter.

Prior to your lease maturity date, call our dealership at 502-385-0348 to schedule an appointment to return your vehicle.

At your lease return appointment, our sales staff will help you with the following paperwork:

  • Federal Odometer/Lease Termination Statement

  • Vehicle Condition Report

We will also inspect your vehicle and compare its condition with the original inspection report to ensure nothing has changed

After your appointment, you will need to call the Nissan Lease Customer Network to report the return of the vehicle.

To learn more about the vehicle inspection process (including how to conduct your own inspection) and to see examples of Normal and Excess Wear and Use, please review the wear-and-use guidebook. (insert link to Wear and Use pdf)

As always, if you have any questions, our helpful staff is here to help! Call or message our talented team at Neil Huffman Nissan of Frankfort.
